USEFUL ADVICE
FOR START-UPS
Always have some business cards on hand when you are at events or workshops. It’s important also to show interest and ask questions about other peoples’ businesses because then they will be more likely to be curious about your own business

Make sure you have a ‘pitch’ that will sell the benefits of your services and demonstrate how unique they can. Establish your unique selling point and decide what makes you stand out from the rest. Then tell everybody the benefits of your product or service

It’s really important that you are organised when you start a new business. It is imperative to always keep on top of paper work, tax returns, meetings, and deadlines, and to ensure that you are in constant contact with clients and customers

Take time out of your busy schedule to de-stress, relax, and exercise. Separate work life from your personal life. It can be hard to juggle the two but there needs to be strict time out from work to relax. Healthy life is a healthy business

TAKING ON BEBO

Only Irish social networking website goes up against Bebo.

Jer Jacobsson, Managing Director, nimble.ie

Launched in March, new Irish social networking website, nimble.ie, promises more entertaining features than any of its current competitors. Taking on the established website Bebo, nimble.ie originated as a student project from the Dublin Institute of Technology.

CONNECTING PEOPLE

The website connects people through networks of friends accompanied by online entertainment such as movie reviews, game reviews, links to other Internet sites, blogs, jokes, pictures, videos, and hot or not images. Nimble offers a way of creating and updating your own page on the website. In the coming months the start up hopes to establish itself as an innovative company where new ideas and concepts are at the centre of the organisation. To do this, nimble plans to continuously re-invent itself to keep a user base which constantly demands new and more exciting entertainment and communication functionality.

FUTURE GENERATION

As part of research carried out before the launch of the nimble website, hundreds of Bebo users were surveyed to find out what they thought about the Bebo website. They were asked what they liked about the website, what they didn’t like and what they would like to see on such a website in the future. This feedback effectively turned nimble into a second generation social networking website.
