STUDENT ENTERPRISE COMPETITION
Galway - Mayo Institute of Technology team wins inaugural Newstalk competition
For their prize, the GMIT team and
their mentor, Shane Moran, will
travel to the Caribbean where they
will shadow ‘real time’ decision
makers in the Digicel Group. At the
announcement of the winner, Mr. Denis O’Brien
Chairman of Newstalk 106 – 108 fm increased the
prize to include a three month internship for each
of the four winners from GMIT.
Speaking at the final, Mr. O’Brien, Chairman of
the competition said, “I am delighted at the level
of interest that has been generated from within
the colleges. The competition was designed to
give participants a ‘true-to-life’ experience of
enterprise by using case studies on real-life Irish
companies. I hope that the experience gained
by all the students throughout the competition
will benefit them long after they have graduated
from college.”
With 259 teams entering in the preliminary
round, over 1,000 students from all over Ireland
have taken part in the Newstalk 106-108 fm
Student Enterprise Competition in association
with The Irish Times and Campus.ie.
