The Sheraton Fota Island Golf Resort and Spa has 131 luxurious guest rooms and suites, incorporating the Sheraton Sweet Sleeper beds, each offering superb views of the woodland or golf course. The spa is available to both residential and nonresidential guests. There are over 60 treatments available spread throughout 18 treatment rooms. The hydrotherapy suite incorporates the first ‘walking river’ a revitalising form of reflexology using water currents. There are designated couple’s suites, a thermal suite, as well as three luxurious beauty rooms, numerous water therapies including affusion showers, sea crystal and floatation baths, a thalaxion room and a post treatment relaxation conservatory. The state of the art facilities ensure that guests are left feeling completely rejuvenated after their choice of treatments. Sheraton Fota Island is the only spa in Ireland which features Comfort Zone, an Italian spa product line. Many of the resort’s signature treatments draw their inspiration from a number of age-old rituals, including the ancient Tui Na Oriental therapy and Indian Ayurveda, including the well-known Indian head massage technique. All the Comfort Zone treatments are preceded by the Tranquility welcome ritual, enabling the guest to relax and soothe their senses. All Day Dining

There are a tempting selection of restaurants with an array of menus to choose from, including The Cove, a gourmet grill room which specialises in freshly caught seafood from the locality, as well as specialised meats and organic produce. Fota is an allday dining venue with an outdoor terrace for those warmer days, while in the relaxed surroundings of the Amber Lounge, guests have the chance to sample one of over 75 whiskeys, and is an ideal setting for a coffee or tea break during the day.

State of the Art

The resort offers distinctively challenging golf courses including The Deerpark, the original golf course, designed by Irish golfing legend Christy O'Connor, Jr. and redesigned by Jeff Howes Golf Design in 1998. More recently an additional nine holes have been added, and are due to be opened this summer. The par 71 championship course, host to the Irish Open on two occasions, has undulating putting surfaces and strategically placed bunkers, offering a challenge for even the most competitive of golfers. The newly refurbished Clubhouse has the added advantage of housing its very own Turkish bath, enticing golfers after a demanding round of precise putting. Sheraton Fota Island also incorporates Ireland’s newest golf academy, housing two large teaching rooms with the latest high-tech video systems with state-of-the-art computerised analysis, as well as a full array of teaching aids. The Spike Bar is perfect for light snacks before venturing onto the green as well as providing excellent après golf cuisine, over looking the unique 18th island green, a picturesque end to your round.
