COMPUTER TROUBLESHOOTERS: NICE CHOICE BUSINESS

Steven McCreery, Computer Troubleshooters Franchisee based in Louth

Entrepreneur, Steven McCreery talks about how his life has changed through becoming a computer troubleshooter franchisee.

In November 2005, Steven McCreery started his own Computer Troubleshooters Office in Louth where he services mainly Dundalk and the surrounding towns in north Co. Louth.

"I started the franchise because I was concerned about how secure my job was in the manufacturing company I worked for. As well as that I wasn't working in my preferred career choice," explains McCreery. The ambitious entrepreneur studied electronics for three years and really wanted to get back to technology as a career. "Fixing computer problems is something I had been doing for friends and family for years as a hobby. I always wondered if I could ever make a living out of it in the real world," says McCreery. Purely by chance, McCreery happened to see what Computer Troubleshooters offered and realised that it was exactly the opportunity he was looking for. Even raising the finance didn't prove too difficult. "When it came to the time of asking for a loan from the bank they were very positive. I had a business model to show them that was proven to work all over the world."

The Benefits

Prior to joining the group McCreery knew very little about running a business. "I had picked up bits and pieces from my last job but not an overall picture." The start up training and ongoing support McCreery received helped him greatly and the marketing methods he learned are the essential part of the business, he reports. "The work itself is very rewarding and enjoyable. Just recently I purchased a van and it's good to meet different customers and people during the week as I go about doing jobs."

Support

McCreery is full of praise for Computer Troubleshooters support structure saying that the help they gave him has been invaluable. "When I am unsure of something relating to the business or the technical side of things, I can give a call to the regional head office in Galway, or to one of the other Troubleshooters around the country and the support is excellent." McCreery says that the franchise has met his expectations praising the fact that the large number of ideas and tips that you can avail of and apply to your own business are really helpful.

Advice

In conclusion McCreery says, "my advice to people thinking of joining the group is above all to follow the guidelines that the franchise provides you with, as they are tried and tested and do work."
