Preparing For Business

Martin Whyte and Seamus Fitzpatrick,
Joint Heads, Faculty of Business,
Griffith College Dublin

The Faculity of Business was one of the first faculties established at Griffith College Dublin (GCD).

Today the faculty provides nine programmes to undergraduate students from Ireland and around the world at all stages in their professional lives to equip them with the knowledge and the capabilities required for success in global markets.

Joint heads of the business faculty, Seamus Fitzpatrick and Martin Whyte, both have considerable experience in the third level education sector and in industry.

The Approach

All business programmes feature practical business plan projects whereby groups of students prepare and present a business plan for a new venture and receive feedback from faculty members.

Core Courses

Popular programmes at GCD include the BA in Business Studies where students specialise in marketing, finance, human resources or eBusiness. The BA in Accounting and Finance allows graduates complete exemption from the first two stages of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) examinations. Preparing students for management roles in the hospitality sector, GCDs BA in International Hospitality Management also addresses the theoretical and practical aspects of hospitality management.

In September 2006 the faculty is adding a new BA in Marketing to its suite of programmes.
