Regional Development Centre (RDC) at DKIT

Established in 1989, the Regional Development Centre (RDC) acts as DKIT's interface with Industry & Commerce. In the last 15 years , it has provided incubation space for over 50 successful high technology businesses. These include Digiweb, Smarthomes and more recently Redmere Technology Ltd, which operates from the newly opened satellite incubator at Millomunt, Drogheda.

Incubation & Innovation

In 2005 Novation was set-up to focus exclusively on all incubation & innovation activities at the Centre as well as at its satellite incubators. In total there are 15 knowledge based businesses in incubation and this should grow to 25 within twelve months.

Committed

The North East Enterprise Platform Programme has been running since 2001.Each Programme runs for 12 months and caters for 10 full-time entrepreneurs each committed to setting up his/her new Technology based business.

Going Forward

Today there is a growing Research & Development Programme at DKIT . Other research groups at DKIT include are Centre for Entrepreneurial Research and Freshwater Research Group. A dedicated Technology Transfer Office will be established in 2007 & this is likely to greatly increase the commercial spin –out from research activities as well as leading to more applied research projects for industry.
